Cor Cilcain (Cilcain Choir) is an active all-the-year round group which sings and makes music that all ages can join in and enjoy. We explore and learn the broadest spectrum of choral music, ancient, medieval and modern, classical and traditional, secular and sacred.
Much of our singing is to learn, sing and enjoy; we also perform by invitation in the Church and Chapel and Cilcain Music Festival, Gwyl Cilcain. There is no requirement for newcomers to read music although it helps and we develop this as we go along. The language varies and we may be singing in Latin, English, Welsh or German, whatever is appropriate.
The Choir formed in February 1998. Malcolm Williams from Bodelwyddan is our Music Director and Mrs. Elizabeth Gladman (Liz) is the accompanist. Rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings in term time 8 to 9-30 p.m. This is in Cilcain Chapel vestry, Capel Gad, opposite the Post Office.
Cor Cilcain values its relationship with the Gwyl Cilcain and contributes to the Festival Service and Cymanfa Ganu. In the past the choir has joined with members of Ensemble Cymru to give concerts in the festival
