Old School House

The Old School House.  

Although this site does not aim to deal with the history of Cilcain,  I have been asked about the Old School House, now a private residence in the village centre.

The stone tablet above the door reads:

“This  Building was Erected on the Common by a Voluntary Subscription from the Landowners and Occupiers of Land in this Parifh as a School for the use and Benefit of the Parifhoners.  1799 ”
