The White Horse, Cilcain
Peter and Chris Jeory have run the White Horse since 1977 and take pride in providing a fine hostelry with traditional country pub atmosphere. Open fires greet visitors in the winter months, there is a choice of real ales, and a regular bar menu is supplemented by a specials board that changes each week
Unlike some country pubs, the White Horse is open for lunch weekdays and reopens Monday to Friday at 6.30pm, with a full food service from 7.00pm until 9.00pm. (9.30pm Fridays and Saturdays). The pub is usually open all day Saturday and Sunday, main meals being available from mid-day to 2.00pm and 7.00pm to 9.00pm. (9.30pm Saturdays).
The White Horse forms one of the hubs of the village and it is not unusual to find a party atmosphere in the bar Sunday afternoon. In contrast the lounge provides a more tranquil setting ideal for relaxing with a pint or two or perhaps taking a meal with friends.
In his spare time (where does he find it?) Peter and Chris enjoy mountain biking, golf and skiing. Peter and Chris also finds time to organise outings for the village such as the Bowls and Oriental Meal night (most recently November 24th 2006) and a Night at the Theatre. A long weekend in Las Vegas has been suggested as a possible future event! The beauty of these outings is that a coach is laid on from the village centre so that no one has to drive and a good time is had by all!
