Cilcain School
Village School - Ysgol-y-Foel
Cilcain school
Ysgol-y-Foel is an Infant and Junior Co-educational school which was built in 1963 and subsequently remodelled and extended in 1988/89.

Much care and thought was exercised during the planning stage of the extension so that the children at Ysgol-y-Foel are provided with an excellent Primary Education in a pleasant, well resourced, secure and purposeful environment.

This is a caring environment which is conducive to the personal and social development of each child. Standards of attainment are kept to the highest level
while relating to the capacity of the individual child. Our S.A.T. results for pupils leaving at the end of Key Stage 2 last summer were 100% with Level Four and above, in all subjects. By comparison, the National figure is 68%.

The staff believe wholeheartedly that a happy child is a child who shall learn quickly and easily. Our first and continuing priority in Ysgol y Foel is that our pupils are coming to school happy each day. This is a school where anything other than the most minor disciplinary matter is almost unprecedented, the children are wonderfully behaved and invariably exhibit commendable manners and consideration for those around them. Children are encouraged to develop self-discipline, self-esteem, initiative and respect for both people and property both in the school and in the community at large.

Number on Roll
From September 2003 there were 68 full time pupils and 5 part time pupils on roll. With three classes in Ysgol y Foel, 3.2 teachers and a full time Nursery Nurse, this gives a most enviable teacher/pupil ratio.

School Sessions.
The school is open from 8.45am each school day and pupils are registered at 8.55am. The school day ends at 3.20pm. for all pupils, providing 23.5 hours teaching time per week. Nursery sessions begin at 8.55am and end at 11.30am.
